I was just about trampled by all the shoppers on Saturday!

The Small-town Difference

Do you have an abundance of thyme, bushels of basil, and a deluge of dill?

Then join us to learn ways to preserve your herbal bounty. Co-sponsored by Greenheart Herbal Society and the Creston Valley Food Action Coalition, this fun filled evening will feature techniques for drying and freezing herbs, as well as ways to make herbal infused vinegars, oils, jams, jellies, syrups and honey.

Join us on Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Rotacrest Hall. There is no charge for this event and all are welcome. For more information, call Rachel at 250-428-0375 or Karen at 250-866-5252 or e-mail greenheartherbalsociety@yahoo.ca.

The Creston and District Society for Community Living’s Therapeutic Riding Program has received so many donations that it is holding an additional garage sale on Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 849 Erickson Road.

All the proceeds from the event go to support Creston’s Therapeutic Riding Program, which serves people of all ages and levels of ability. This is the program’s fifth year of operation and now serves 20 riders.

If you are interested in the garage sale or the Therapeutic Riding Program, contact Sarah Schmidt at 250-402-9646 or sschmidt.cdscl@shawlink.ca.

You go, girl!. Little Nevaeh Aldritch, now two-and-a-half years old, is doing well after five hours of open heart surgery on June 12. A letter from former Crestonite Jolynn Leslie reports that doctors are very pleased with Nevaeh's quick recovery.

"Doctor fix my heart" is how the child describes the procedure, Jolynn said in a letter this week from Lloydminster, Alta., where the family now lives.

"Nevaeh is an extremely bright, active little girl and she has been through so much in her little life," Jolynn writes. "In a way, she seems to know, and takes it one day at a time. She says, 'I am OK.' Thank you to all the people who have prayed for her."
