A play, a concert and a paint out — it’s going to be an art-filled weekend!

Gallery hosting Sunday painting event

With temperatures expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the Painted Turtle Gallery has picked an excellent time to host a paint out at Garden Hoe Farms this weekend.

“We have a tremendous number of artists, artisans and craftspeople in the valley and it seemed to me that we need a forum to showcase those,” said Win Dinn, who opened the downtown gallery in May. “Having a paint out where they can see the work created is a good way to do that.”

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 13, visitors and artists are welcome to create, or simply relax and enjoy refreshments at the event at the Lower Wynndel Road farm. Between 4 and 5 p.m., artists will donate one piece to a silent auction, with proceeds going to the Community Arts Council of Creston and the Creston Art Club.

“I think they’re going to get a charge out of seeing how artists think about creating things, what their process is and how it evolves throughout the day,” said Dinn. “And, of course, the setting is stunning.”
