What a perfect week.  I dreamed of a cabin "away from it all" in British Columbia and here it is......thank you.  It's been a glorious week - warm enough to swim (sort of); beautiful sun and moon watching across the mountains.  We even saw a golden eagle!  The accommodations are just right - everything we needed.  Great rock - pickin', so we took a little of B.C. back to Chicago area to remember you.

Unbelievable!!  what a fantastic set-up.  The pebble beach was a hit with the kids and me.  The canoe is a great touch.  The deck is a serene delight in the evening with moon moving across the water.  I hope we get to come again.
Thank you so much,

P.S. ping pong was great too.

Thanks for finding this terrific spot and sharing it with the rest of us.  It felt like home the moment we walked in.  Even with the heat wave here in B.C. we managed to do a lot of "cool" stuff.  The accommodations and people here have been great.  We almost don't want to tell anyone back in Manitoba about our new favourite "secret" spot.

Thanks for sharing your lakehouse with us.  The view is just spectacular!  We had a great week!  The weather certainly cooperated for us except for the rainstorm on Tuesday (what a downpour).  It's been relaxing, quiet and fun, and the ping pong was definitely a hit.  We tried fishing but were unsuccessful.  Oh, well maybe next time.

A wonderful family holiday!  Your house easily accommodated all of our families.  This week of the Olympics in Athens your vacation home scores close to a "10" and easily wins the Gold.

We all enjoyed your home and all of the attractions.  The fishing was poor but it matched the weather we got.  We enjoyed our trip to Ainsworth and Kaslo the best.  Golf wise, Kokanee Springs and Creston have amazing courses.

Stellar views, perfect weather , lots of space, we are in heaven.  Impressed with the fully appointed rooms, we just needed to bring ourselves.  Enjoyed the central locale, especially with the ferry to Nelson.  It's refreshing to do nothing, or anything at one's whim.  Thanks for a relaxing vacation.. P.S. the kids loved the games room and ping pong!

Thank you so much for allowing our family to share in this gorgeous spot on Kootenay Lake.  We spent our summers out here as kids and still find it's the most relaxing place for us to get away from the business of Calgary.  We had a great week laying on the beach, fishing and checking out all of the amazing local art.  The "Toltec" Gallery makes excellent cappuccino's  which we indulged in everyday!

The cabin delivered on everything it promised.  The views were beautiful, the lake was a blast, all in all it was a perfect destination.  I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Thank you for sharing your comfortable, and well cared for home.  We felt at ease and cozy during our stay in it.  With the beautiful garden and flowers, the cute cabin decorating and the well equipped kitchen we felt as if we were staying at a friends house and not a sterile rental.  We enjoyed the canoes, swimming at the beach and the views.  THE VIEWS!!!  We took day trips to Kaslo, Kokanee Glacier Park and up Gray Creek road.  They were all delightful, but each time we came back to the cabin we caught our breath when we looked out the beautiful picture windows and saw the lake and mountains right from the house.  My husband and I loved the view from the master bedroom and watching the sunlight flow down the mountain in the morning.
Thanks so much.

Our stay in your lakehouse was pefect.........the beach kept the kids occupied an proved relaxing for the "big kids" (us) as well.  Our son saw many sights this end of the lake - the hike to the lighthouse and mini-golf in Crawford Bay being his favourites.  Definitely am thankful for the washer/dryer *little boys* + the outdoors + ice cream = many messes :)  Even though we live just down the road, we truly felt as though we'd "gotten away from it all".  Thanks so much.

Thank you for a wonderful get away.  It was great to holiday at a "real" lake again - Alberta's lakes are too mucky for this BC girl.  Our son enjoyed the rocks and sticks, like I always did as a child at Kootenay Lake.  We took a few canoe rides, watched the Osprey go fishing, the humming birds and the bats, and relaxed.  As well, like we hoped, we were treated to a lightning storm.  Somehow nothing quite compares to a storm down the lake.  The lightning bouncing off the mountains and the reflection off the lake were incredible.  Thanks, again.

Thank you for letting us use your cabin.  I had fun playing in the water.  I liked the fish.  My favorite room was the living room.  I like playing ping pong.  And my dad found a big slug.  And we went on a ferry ride and it was fun.  Thank you.

Thank you so much for having wonderful days here in your gorgeous spot.  The million $ view is incredible and the whole area is so quiet and peaceful.  Even though we had just a few days we enjoyed every hour here.  We will miss this place and we will highly recommend your cabin to all our friends.  Thanks again for your house and we wish you all the best.  Your kindness is deeply appreciated.

Day 1 - Coming down from city lights, traffic, constant hustle

unpacking, setting up - still in a bustle

Take time to sit, relax, hear my breath sigh, the beauty of the view outside, in the corner of my eye.

Look again and this time

breathe - in and out slow - holiday time is truly here

no need to up and go!

Days 2 - 6  Humming birds, water sounds

Wind in the trees.

Bats at night taking flight, cool summer breeze

Time for naps, reading, relax - no need to watch a clock

Children's laughter, splashing, fun, fishing at the dock.

Taking in the local sights

ferry to the Bay.

Local artists, pots and brooms

fun throughout the day.

The week has come to an end

and with a silent sigh

I lock the door, feeling sad to have to say goodbye

But to the city, on the journey home, these thoughts I will take --------

Peace, memories, quiet breath at the 'House on the Lake!"
Thanks Kathy & Mike for opening your home to us, our family sincerely enjoyed the break.

Thank you, Kathy & Michael for providing this special place to get away and relax.  It has been one of the best Christmas seasons we've ever had.  We're sorry to be leaving.  We've met so many nice people while here, including especially yourselves, that we've come to feel very much at home here.  It's hard to go back to the city.  Thanks again, for all your kindness and generosity.  See you again in the Spring.

What a beautiful spot you have!  Couldn't wish for anything better.  Appreciated your thoughtful touches in equipping the house.  Must mention for posterity that No. 1 son caught "one heck of a fish" - released, of course, [  right off the big black rock jetty out front]
Thanks for everything

We had a great time here reminiscing about all our time spent here.  Our girls had a chance to see a great storm, go canoeing, and ride the waves on the HMS toothpick (log).  It was wonderful to listen to the water and have beach fires again.  We toured the cave at Ainsworth, although, it's not nearly as scary with the cement floors now and lighting.  What a relaxing holiday.
Your home was well equipped and we really appreciated that.

What a great winter wonderland.  We skied, snowshoed, hiked, fished, and relaxed.  Ferry was a pain for the ski trip - but we just went once.  This house is beautiful - led to relaxation!  Thanks.
