"Young Retirees Paradise" - According to my Dad |
Do you crave gardening (very fertile soil with plenty of composting facilities and municipal water), cherries in late June or early July, apricots in late July, peaches in August, plums and walnuts in September? There are 1 to 3 trees of each of the listed varieties - perfect for the canner, dehydrator or freezer but definitely not a commercial enterprise. The south walls of the house and garage boast Concord Grapes (for wine, juice or eating). Another grape trellis is located on the west side of the garden. The garden also has strawberry plants and raspberry canes. A treed ravine forms the south boundary of this property. To the west is a very, very quiet trailer park. Having visited the property for the last 17 years I can honestly say that noise from the trailer park is non-existent. Half of the property is shielded from the trailer park by the woodshed and a wooded area. The neighbours have planted a cedar hedge on the north border of the property. The front yard has shrubs, cedars, a large variety of roses plus an assortment of perennials. The back wall of the house has tulips that come up every spring and can be planted over with annuals in May or June. Two clematis climb their individual trellises. The single car garage has an attached workshop and a separate storage area perfect for your gardening tools. A single vehicle carport is attached to the north end of the house. Birds of all types can be attracted to the property - seen over the years are hummingbirds, robins, nuthatches, pheasants, a wild turkey named "Dinner" plus many more. A few pesky squirrels will gladly eat the pinecones or just drop them to the ground. Larger mammals, a pest in more rural settings, rarely if ever invade the property. And to top it all off you can take your guests to the Kokanee Brewery for a tour, a short half block away. Name: Judy Quathamer You are visitor number since Mar 31, 2008 |
